Trip to Kealakekua Bay to Kayak and Snorkel

On Wednesday, August 1, John & Jackie drove Neil down to Kealakekua Bay. We went to Maile's Kayak Rental and Dexter (4th generation landowner of this beautiful ocean front property) rented Jackie and Neil a double Kayak. John stayed with Dexter and they became good friends. We paddled out through a narrow passage in the dangerous lava rock, across the Bay to Captain Cook's Monument, where we beached (rocked?) the kayak and went snorkeling. Yes, this is the same place Diane and I swam across, and back, last April 18th. These photos show some of the highlights:

Neil in a dive skin and Jackie with her bag:  snack + water, snorkel gear and Neil's underwater camera.

Dexter shoves us off on our grande sea-kayak adventure.

It's a Mermaid! Jackie! But we didn't see any Dolphins.

Neil spying out the denizens of the deep -  I'm amazed this one turned out!

Captain Cook Monument - not the original -  in the background.

Jackie in the Kayak,  ready for the paddle back to civilization. No sunburn this trip - Just a pink glow!
