October 21 - Our NewsLetter To You

So here is the most amazing letter I think I have ever written. Keep the responses coming. We love to hear from all our Ohana. What's next??? Only God knows and only Time will tell. In the mean time: What an adventure life is!

… Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28: 18 - 20

Aloha (Hello) to our Ohana (extended family),
We are hoping this finds you well and glad to be alive in God’s beautiful world.

We are excited to share some good news. Father-God has given us a new assignment. After our U.S. - Canada trip this summer, we thought we were coming back to Kona to take part in a Crossroads Discipleship Training School. On the first day of class that door was closed. When Abba-Father closes one door, He usually opens another, and that is exactly what happened to us. On the 28th of November we leave, on one way tickets, for Siem Riep, Cambodia. There is a YWAM base there at which we will begin our service. This will probably involve Christian mentoring, English and French language teaching, technical / vocational training, and whatever other needs we can help with. We don't know yet exactly what our service will look like, but we know Who does know, and we trust Him absolutely.

Here are a few links for you:
http://ywamsiemreap.org/khmer-culture/
http://uofncambodia.org/  -choose “locations” to see Siem Reap where we are going or Battambang for a really good video about YWAM’s involvement there.
Go to: YouTube “Shopping with a dollar in Cambodia”, “Walk around the city of Siem Reap in Cambodia” and “Cambodia snacking on spiders”! There are many more! Google too will help you see where we are going!

Neither John nor Jackie has ever been to Cambodia. What an adventure this will be! The time before we leave has multitudes of items on our list. We are getting blood tests, X-rays, and inoculations. We are finishing up projects and tying up loose ends. All our “stuff” is being sorted, sold or given away. By the time we board that plane our possessions will be down to two suitcases each! Anybody have any idea how to inexpensively get a box or two back up to Jackie’s locker in Chilliwack?

We are so thankful for the internet!
I suspect that we will, especially over time, dearly love to hear from all of you.
Until we leave Kona, John’s cell number is still useable.
