Why We Do What We Do!

This is the Aquaponics Greenhouse and the Garden at JUCUM Heredia
on a misty evening a few months ago.

John has been experimenting with fire bricks.
That Rocket Stove sure burns hot, fast and completely!

Jackie had the idea of putting this tank in the Garden to hold water, fish and duck weed.
These two young ladies helped get it there!

John goes over the house's wiring diagram with Alex at Bambu.
It's understood and he's now been challenged to get it done!

John gave a lesson to Sasha on how to clean a dryer.
He accumulated several others who wanted to learn also.

Jackie is (almost) always more than happy to have visitors while she works.
This is almost a party!

Isaiah found my favorite spot to relax.
We were discussing some deep thoughts.

Misha, the greenhouse cat, really enjoys the new "cookies" / stepping blocks.
The Triangle Corner is for a permanent Herb Garden.

Jackie digs a new raised bed along the back fence.
No more pesky grasshoppers and bugs can get in now!
Rue, Rosemary and Pineapples are planted there.

Looking from the front towards the back of the Garden.
These raised beds will help control weeds, drain rain, hold moisture and be easier to work.
This garden project is almost completed.

Maika knows she's not allowed inside.
She sure enjoys a nap on our front porch when we are in the house.

Sometimes John likes to get a little exercise.

We currently have about 65 hens and a rooster on campus.
John gets up at 6 am every day to feed, water and let them out. In the evening he collects their eggs and shuts them in for the night.

We do all this to support, teach, model and relate to these amazing, wonderful, talented and beautiful young people.
They are off now experiencing their own "God Stories" in Argentina.
Check this out to see what they've been learning:

Next will come the 10th Environmental And Resource Stewardship (EARS) school:

and the Building in Missions school
